Our research program is interdisciplinary, linking construction engineering, management, computer science and etc. together. Post-doctoral, visiting scholars/students, graduate research assistant, undergraduate assistant positions are available. 

PhD Students

Self-motivated students who are interested in pursuing PhD degree in civil engineering are encouraged to apply for the PhD program.

Minimum Requirements:

1) B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management,  Computer Science, or other related fields

2) General admission requirements (English, GPA)

Desirable qualification: 

Interested and demonstrated research experiences related to two or more of the following areas: 1) Construction engineering management; 2) Image processing; 3) Engineering informatics; 4) Automation in construction; 5) sustainability and green building; 6) BIM and GIS; 7) Wireless sensor network; 8) Machine learning and big data analytics; 9) Information Modelling.

Assistantship Package:

HK$17,000 per month for 12 months per year. Travel expenses will be covered for research-related activities (conference, data collection, research exchange and etc.)

The chance will increase with a higher GPA (>85 in a 100 scale) and more peer-reviewed international journal papers published (Must be SCI and top 50% in category).

Hong Kong PhD Fellowship

In case you have a high GPA with a strong publication record, you are encouraged to apply for Hong Kong PhD Fellowship. The monthly stipend of HKPFS is HK$25,000/month. In addition, conference and travel allowance of HK$10,000 per year is provided for HKPFS awardees.

Post-doctoral Researcher

1) Post-doctoral Researcher in Information Technology (open until filled)

Duties:

The appointee will assist the PI in the research projects – “Application of Computer Vision for Autonomous Jobsite Monitoring” and other IT-related research projects.

Qualifications:

Applicants for this position should have a earned doctoral degree in Computer Science, Eletrical Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline or equivalent qualifications and must have no more than three years of post-qualification experience at the time of application.

Applicants should be proficient in Python and C#.

2) Postdoctoral Fellowship (Deadline: Oct 18, 2019)

The Scheme aims at building up a pool of local research talent to sustain Hong Kong’s competitiveness and propel the development of higher education sector by providing support to promising local and non-local young research talent in building up research and development (R&D) careers in Hong Kong for 36 months of full time appointment as postdoctoral fellow under two streams: (i) Science, Medicine, Engineering and Technology; (ii) Humanities, Social Sciences and Business Studies. RGC will provide the awardee an annual stipend of HK$396,600 for

   i)  Awardee’s basic salary and
ii) Conference and research-related travel allowance

Eligibility of the Applicants:

1) Obtain legal right to work and reside in Hong Kong during the fellowship period; AND
2) (i) have obtained / been conferred a PhD degree or an equivalent qualification not more than three years before the year of nomination, OR
(ii) complete the requirement of a PhD degree or an equivalent qualification within six months from the closing date of nomination;
AND
3) be supported by a UGC-funded university at which he / she wishes to hold the fellowship.

Visiting Fellows

There is no funding support for visiting fellows at this moment. Self-financed visiting fellows could discuss the opportunities with Dr. Xiaowei Luo directly.

Visiting Students

Applicants who do not wish to pursue a full programme of study at the University may apply for admission as a visiting student to attend selected course(s) and take the assessment(s) as defined in the programme scheme.
